In Ethan Hawke’s own words, “Creativity is sustenance”; the vital substance that connect us all.
While life is at its fullest, we tend to give creativity a pass. Poems are not pressing, paintings are not impressing and music are not arresting. However, when facing a tragedy or celebrating a jubilation, we will search for this connection. Has anyone gone through this? How can I share my happiness? How have others climb this mountain or walked through this valley of mine?
In a nut shell, if you are a poet, painter, musician or in any form of creative role, our universe needs you and we need you to be brave enough to put your work out into the world for us. We would ultimately need your expression of love, we just don’t know when. And when the time arrives, someone in our world will resonate with the stroke of your brush, the choice of your words and the cadence of your melody.
Let not the world be your critic. Play the fool, let your creative flow by expressing what you love and wait for the world to embrace you when the time is right.
If you are already convinced that you are vital to us, but yet to find your creativity, Ethan’s answer to that was simple - Follow Your Love.
Follow your love and the path to creativity will be revealed to you.
What is that you love or that one thing that will bring you joy?
And what would that be.
I am all ears if you are “foolish” enough to tell.
